DEBBIE DURAN
I started playing softball at the age of 8 and instantly fell in love with the game. I grew up playing for San Jose PAL Quicksilver and joined my first travel ball team with the 12U Sting. I loved playing all positions—catcher, infield, and pitcher—but after that first season of travel ball, I knew pitching was the position I wanted to pursue. I began taking pitching lessons and focusing on mastering the craft. I was a four-year varsity player at Oak Grove High School before continuing my softball journey at San Jose City College, where I was the starting pitcher for two years. During my time there, I earned Pitcher of the Year honors and helped lead our team to back-to-back South Coast Conference Championships. I then transferred on a scholarship to Cal State Northridge (CSUN) to play for the Matadors, where I earned Honorable Mention All-Big West Conference honors.
Coaching-
Following my graduation from CSUN, I became a pitching assistant at San Jose City College, where I guided the development of pitchers by focusing on fundamentals and consistency. In addition to my role at the college, I provided private pitching lessons to individuals aged 8 and up, tailoring instruction to meet each student’s needs. Throughout my collegiate years, I also assisted with organizing and running softball camps and clinics, emphasizing skill development and team-building exercises.
My coaching philosophy centers around the belief that strong fundamentals are the foundation of a successful pitcher. I emphasize the development of solid pitching mechanics to enhance performance and build confidence on the mound. My goal is to support each pitcher in reaching their full potential—both on and off the field. I’m excited to work with you and help you take your game to the next level.
